It is possible nowadays that people perform their everyday tasks, such as shopping and banking as well as business transactions without meetingpeople face to face. What is your opinion on the effect on both individual andsociety as a whole? State your idea with evidence and relevant examples.
With the introduction of high technology into oureconomy and society, our life and business seem to be easier, yet impersonal. This phenomenon has, I think, both the positive and negative effects onindividuals and society.
In terms of the effect of the high technology onindividuals, people find that they can perform everyday tasks without meetingpeople face to face. An example of this is the availability of cash machines.On-line purchase also changes the way people go shopping, and the invention ofB-to-B module penetrates every branch of the business world. All these savepeople the time, energy and resources, yet alienate them from the reality. However,Lack of communication between people leads to the language barrier. In Germany, one quarter of the children have the language barrier, resulting in theunhealthy development of their personality.
On the other hand, the effect of the high technologyon society cannot be ignored, either. Our work becomes more efficient andsocial life more vivid. Nevertheless, a machine-oriented society has itsdownside. The relationships between people become cold. As a result of this, people might take an indifferent attitude towards what is happening aroundthem, such as air pollution, extinction of wild animals, global warming, etc. Andthe divorced rate is ever rising, leaving millions of parent families behind.
All in all, we might well come to the conclusion that withthe advancement of our society, our life is becoming comfortable and sociallife colorful, but we should endeavor to diminish its negative effects onindividuals and society to the least extent.
