AP课程是由美国大学理事会（The College Board）提供的在高中授课的大学课程，针对众多考试科目进行授课辅导，在完成课业后参加AP考试，得到一定的成绩后可以获得大学学分，是一种重要的、能够充分展现学生能力并且省钱的留学申请参考。
AP考试现在是有22个门类、38个学科。AP考试涉及到不同领域的众多科目，包括Capstone、艺术、英语、历史与社会科学、数学和计算机科学、科学、世界语言和文化在内的七大类。各个学校实际开设AP课程数量与学生质量、师资的配备等因素直接相关，因而并非每个学校都会开设这么多AP课程。
